“No results” no more

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

As I continue to share FFF (Famous Food Finder) with friends and family, I realize more and more that not everyone is an engineer. With that said I made some slight changes to the site in regards to searching and results (or in this case no results). Before when no entries were found the site would display an ugly Javascript pop-up letting the user know their query found nothing. While this worked, it was not useful and did nothing to help the user out. When no results are encountered now the listings area now gets populated with the message and a suggestion to use the advanced search. What if the user can’t find what they want using the advanced search? Well a message is displayed for that too that lets the user know they can send us an email if they felt like this was an error or a lack of data.

While these changes are minimal, they make a huge difference. The core service for FFF is to provide the data you want to see and that is done through search. Were always thinking of new ideas and methods to further reduce the confusion on your end, so if you have any comments then by all means, please pass them on.

Be on the look out…

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

We are 75% ready to release some new search filters that will help you narrow down your search results based on your favorite shows.

The search features will include:

  • Season
  • Episode

Were also looking on how we can integrate other details like restaurant name, food type and episode title into the search field.

Happy food finding until then!
