A North Pole Christmas Restaurants Added

Friday, December 25th, 2009

In the free time I had while waiting for everyone else to wake up this morning I added the restaurants that appeared on the A North Pole Christmas episode of Diner’s, Drive-Ins, and Dives.  These include:

Once the holidays are over we plan on really focusing on the site to get the data up to date, expand to cover even more shows, and address some usability issues that have come up. We also plan to add additional information such as food types, episode, season and price ranges.

Rachael Rays Tasty Treats Now Mapped

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

We’ve added restaurants shown on Rachael Rays Tasty Treats to the map, with the exception of one episode.  We’ve got to make some changes behind the scenes to properly handle non-US addresses so information from the Trinidad episode is not currently available.  This adds 119 more restaurants to the map.

In case you are waiting for No Reservations to show up this internationalization issue is what is delaying us there also.

A Feast at Chap’s Pit Beef

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

The other weekend my brother and I went biking for a good 20 some miles. By the end of the ride we were left with a good work out and a need for food. One of the places I love to go to after a good workout is Chap’s Pit Beef right off Pulaski Highway. Usually I keep it pretty tame and go for just the pit beef sandwhich, but that day I decided to try out one of the combos. I chose the Bull Dog which is a spicy sausage, pit beef and American cheese on a sub roll. Being that I burned a good couple hundred calories biking, I also decided to indulge in some fries with gravy.

Bulldog and Gravy Fries

Needless to say, I was stuffed by the end of this meal. The pit beef was cooked exactly how I like it (medium), the sausage was a little on the tough side, but all in all it went extremely well together. If you plan to hit up Chap’s Pit Beef while in Baltimore then be sure to get the side of fries with gravy. I may just be a sucker for food that is bad for me, but that gravy kicked the fries up to a whole new level.

If you have been to Chap’s Pit Beef then we would love to hear about your experience and favorite item off their menu.

Breakfast at Blue Moon Cafe

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

So the hotel we stayed at last night turned out to be just 2 blocks from the Blue Moon Cafe.  I didn’t check for restaurants before we went to Baltimore, and only happened to notice because I was testing some of the new mobile features we are in the process of adding while deciding what to do for breakfast.

There was about a 30 minute wait when we got there, but my wife and I both agree that it was definitely worth it.  I had the Hearty Omelet while she had a Ham and Cheese Omelet.  The hash browns had a  nice crisp golden brown crust.  We shared a short stack of Cap’n Crunch French Toast, which was excellent.  Normally I don’t like french toast, but next time we go I will be getting a regular order just for myself.
